Which projects need contractor accommodation in Coventry?

Coventry has three large building programmes running in 2026. They are GreenPower Park at the former airport, the expansion of Jaguar Land Rover’s Whitley campus, and the Very Light Rail route in the city centre. All three are on the south and east side of the city.

GreenPower Park, Baginton

Coventry Airport closed to flights in June 2026 to make way for GreenPower Park. The £2.5 billion scheme, run by Coventry City Council and Rigby Group, has approval for seven manufacturing buildings with a combined 4.8 million sq ft. Groundworks and power upgrades come first.

JLR Whitley expansion

Buckingham Group holds a contract worth about £39.7 million for road and utility works that enable a £500 million expansion of the Jaguar Land Rover headquarters at Whitley. The site sits next to the A45 and A46 at Toll Bar End.

Coventry Very Light Rail

The Very Light Rail demonstrator is an 800 m twin track from Coventry station to the Coventry University Technology Park. Works on Mile Lane started in July 2026, and track on Park Road follows through 2027.

University Hospital Coventry

University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire on Clifford Bridge Road, Walsgrave, has a steady flow of estates, IT and clinical equipment contracts. It sits on the east side, about 10 minutes from M6 junction 2.

Which part of Coventry is best for contractors to stay in?

The best part of Coventry for most contractors is just inside or outside the ring road. From there, every main route out of the city is within 10 minutes, so one house can serve a crew working on more than one site.

The Canal Basin, on the north edge of the centre, suits crews who want to walk to shops and food in the evening. The city centre and the station are a short walk away. Houses on the east side suit teams at the hospital or heading for the M6 and M69 every morning.

Avoid booking far out in Warwickshire villages to save a few pounds a night. Coventry’s rush hours on the A45 and A46 can turn a 15-minute run into 40 minutes, and that time comes off the working day.

Contractors can stay from a few nights up to several months. We set bookings around the project timeline and can extend if the job overruns. Stays of a month or more usually qualify for a lower weekly or monthly rate, so ask us for a quote before you book.

Do you take bookings for companies with teams in Coventry and Gloucestershire?

Yes. Esho Stays has homes in Coventry, Gloucester, Cirencester and near Malmesbury. Companies with teams on more than one site can book them all through one contact, with one invoice format, which makes it easier to track accommodation costs across projects.
