The best contractor accommodation with van parking has an off-street drive, room for the length of your van and no height barrier. Esho Stays has drives at three homes: two to three vehicles in Cirencester, two cars in tandem in Gloucester and free parking at the house in Coventry. Tell us your van sizes before you book.

What should you look for in contractor accommodation with van parking?
Look for parking that is off the street, long enough for your van, and free of height barriers or tight gates. Then check how many vehicles fit, not just whether parking exists.
Listings often say “free parking” without saying what kind. That can mean a private drive, a shared car park with numbered bays, or just that the street outside has no meters. For a crew with two long-wheelbase vans, those are very different things.
Private drive
The best option. Vans sit next to the house, in view of the bedroom windows, and nobody has to hunt for a space at 7pm.
Allocated bay
Common at flats. One space is usually guaranteed, but it may be a short walk from the door, and bays are often sized for cars.
On-street parking
Fine for one car or a small van on a quiet road. In city streets it may need a resident permit, and spaces fill up in the evening.
Which Esho Stays homes have parking for vans?
Three Esho Stays homes have a private drive or parking at the house, and three flats have one allocated space each. The rest use on-street parking or have arrangements we confirm before you book.

Will a long-wheelbase or high-roof van fit?
A long-wheelbase van fits most private drives and residential streets. A high-roof van is the one to plan for, because many car parks have height barriers of about 2 metres.
High-roof panel vans usually stand around 2.5 metres or more. That rules out many multi-storey car parks, hotel car parks and some park and ride sites. Gloucester’s Waterwells Park and Ride, for example, has 2.1 m height barriers.
Length matters on drives. A tandem drive that takes two cars may only take one long van, or one van and one car. Narrow historic streets, like those around Cirencester Market Place or Malmesbury Abbey, can also be awkward to turn in.

Where should you keep tools at contractor accommodation?
Keep valuable tools out of the van overnight wherever you can. Van thefts and tool thefts are common, and many van insurance policies limit cover for tools left in a vehicle overnight, so check your policy before the job starts.
Park on the drive, nose inBacking the van up to a wall or fence so the rear doors cannot open is a simple deterrent. A drive in view of the house helps too.
Ask about space indoorsSome of our homes have a utility room or garden space that suits a few tool cases. Ask us before you arrive rather than filling a hallway.
Leave bulk materials on siteAccommodation is not a store. Keep materials in the site compound and bring home only the tools you need each day.
What should you ask about parking before you book?
Ask how many vehicles fit, what size they can be, and whether anything needs arranging before you arrive. Then get the answer in writing.

Frequently asked questions
Can I park a high-roof van at your homes?
Usually yes at the homes with a private drive or on-street parking. The tighter question is length and access, especially at the Gloucester tandem drive and at flats with an allocated bay. Send us the make, model and roof height of each van, and we will confirm the fit before you book.
Do I need a parking permit?
Only at some homes. Our one-bedroom annex in Kingsholm, Gloucester, uses on-street parking that needs a permit. Give us the vehicle registration before arrival and we will arrange it. Homes with a drive or an allocated space do not need a permit for the vehicles parked there.
What if the crew needs more parking partway through the job?
Tell us as soon as you know. We may be able to move you to a home with a bigger drive, or add a second nearby home with its own parking. On-street parking near most of our homes is free, subject to spaces and local restrictions, but it is not guaranteed.
Is parking included in the nightly price?
Yes. Where an Esho Stays home has a drive or an allocated space, it is included in the nightly rate with no extra charge. On-street parking near our homes is listed as free where it is free, subject to spaces. If a permit is needed, we arrange it once you send the vehicle registration.
